    Adatech Services in Northern Marmara Natural Gas Project

    BOTAŞ awarded the tender for the Northern Marmara Natural Gas Storage Expansion (Phase 3) Project to Kolin and Kalyon partnership. In this project, Adatech provided services such as SCADA (redundant), communication infrastructure, fire detection and extinguishing system and communication services, as well as engineering, design and field control.

    Northern Marmara Natural Gas Storage Expansion Project

    It is aimed to reach a storage capacity of 4.6 billion Sm3 and a daily back production capacity of 75 million Sm3 with the project whose construction works started in 2017 at the Northern Marmara – Değirmenköy storage Facility in the Silivri district of Istanbul province, which currently has a storage capacity of 2.84 billion Sm3 and a daily back production capacity of 25 million Sm3. The summary of the Northern Marmara Natural Gas Storage Expansion (Phase – III) Project Supply Construction Construction tender is as follows;

    The approximate cost of the tender, which was held by negotiation on 31.10.2019 with the Tender Registration Number 2019/430389, was 4.597.687.748.71. The accepted offer of Kolin İnşaat and Kalyon İnşaat partnership for the project, which will be carried out in Silivri district of Istanbul province and last for 900 days, was 201,234,365.86 TL + 296,137,759.91 USD + 147,177,033.06 Euro.

    1 in 5 goes to storage

    With the completion of the Silivri Natural Gas Storage Project, which continues to expand together with Tuz Lake, a storage capacity of 11 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be reached and will be able to store 20 percent of the annually consumed natural gas in 2023. When the Tuz Lake Natural Gas Storage Expansion Project is completed, the facility’s storage capacity will reach approximately 5.4 billion cubic meters in total and the total back production capacity will reach 80 million cubic meters per day by opening 48 new wells. Thus, citizens will be provided with uninterrupted natural gas under all conditions. With the completion of the Tuz Gölü Natural Gas Underground Storage Project, Northern Marmara Natural Gas Storage Expansion Project (Phase III) and Saros FSRU Project, natural gas storage will reach 11 billion cubic meters in 2023, and 20 percent of the total consumption will be stored.

    LNG alternative

    Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) imports from alternative sources also increased to 7 billion 136 million cubic meters compared to last year’s figures. With the contacts to be made with the USA in the coming period, an alternative to natural gas will be created by importing LNG from this country. Last year, 206 thousand cubic meters of LNG were transferred from the world’s largest LNG storage ship to BOTAŞ’s floating LNG storage and gasification unit (FSRU). The transfer, completed in 2 days, was an important test for Turkey’s use of LNG as an alternative source.
