The Internet of Things (Internet of Things, briefly IoT) is a communication network in which physical objects are connected with each other or with larger systems. It is embedded with sensors, software and other technologies to connect to other devices and systems and exchange data over the Internet. It is envisaged that the objects can be marked with a unique identifier so that they can work together over the Internet infrastructure, thus creating values greater than the sum of the small parts.
For example, in smart traffic systems, by continuously transmitting the location of people in traffic to a central system, the system can analyze the movement information of people and determine the traffic density in the region, the flow rate of the traffic, and the estimated time of arrival on a certain route. In this way, people who are new to traffic can choose alternative routes according to the traffic density.
