RMS Works Conducted in Rompetrol CoGen Power Plant Project
Adatech is undertaking the engineering services of the RMS (Regulation and Measurement Station) within the scope of the ROMPETROL CoGen Power Plant Project, which is one of Romania’s major energy investments and has an electricity generation capacity of 75 MW. Designed for the transmission and control of natural gas to be used in electricity generation, this RMS station plays a critical role in the safe, efficient and sustainable operation of the power plant. Located in the city of Constanta on the Black Sea coast, this power plant aims to strengthen Romania’s energy infrastructure and increase the security of energy supply in the region. Adatech’s engineering contributions to the project enable the plant to operate with high performance.
Adatech is responsible for the installation and commissioning of measurement, control and data collection infrastructures at the RMS site within the scope of the project. Adatech, which ensures that the equipment in the field works in integration with the SCADA system, offers highly engineered solutions in accordance with international standards in all processes. Thanks to the automation system used, data in the field is monitored and analyzed in real time and transferred securely to the central control system. Adatech, which undertook the integration of inSCADA software in this project, makes it possible to monitor all devices in the field instantly through this platform.
The equipment in the system includes gas chromatographs, flow calculators, pressure and temperature transmitters, control valves, analyzers and various types of flow measurement devices. The advanced communication infrastructure established between these devices ensures high-precision data transfer. The integration of all these systems is realized through Adatech’s carefully prepared engineering projects and field applications.
Rompetrol Project Overview
This prestigious project, carried out in partnership with Çalık Enerji, which undertook the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the project, covers a power plant with a capacity of 75 MW, located in Constanta city on the Black Sea coast of Romania. This plant, which plays a strategic role in meeting the country’s energy needs, aims to increase Romania’s energy supply security and contribute to the regional energy balance. Adatech plays an active role in the engineering processes of the RMS station, which is an important component of this major investment.
The RMS station, which undertakes measurement and distribution functions in the natural gas transmission chain, is critical for the safe, efficient and uninterrupted operation of the power plant. Adatech successfully realizes the digital control and monitoring systems of the plant with its high standard engineering solutions and automation infrastructure. Equipped with modern technologies, the systems increase efficiency in energy production and contribute to reducing environmental impacts.
Operational Efficiency with SCADA System
The advanced SCADA infrastructure used at the RMS site is configured through the inSCADA system. Through this system, all equipment in the field can be monitored and controlled from a single center and operational data can be reported in detail. The communication infrastructure established with industry-standard protocols such as Ethernet, RS485 and Modbus TCP/IP securely transfers real-time data flow to the DCS (Distributed Control System) structure.
Among the main equipment commissioned so far;
– 2 gas chromatographs,
– 2 flow computers,
– 73 pressure and temperature transmitters,
– emergency shut-off valves (ESD),
– various control and manual valves,
– gas analyzers and different types of flow measurement devices.
The integrated and uninterrupted operation of this equipment is made possible by Adatech’s comprehensive on-site engineering services and careful commissioning.
Installed Systems and Engineering Applications
Adatech undertakes not only system integration but also advanced engineering services in the project. The works carried out on site are realized with a comprehensive engineering approach in line with high safety, efficiency and sustainability targets.
The main engineering and application works carried out within the scope of the project stand out as follows:
– Redundant PLC Panel at SIL 2 level: By using Honeywell HC900 SIL2 controller, a redundant automation infrastructure that meets high security requirements is created.
– 380 VAC MCC Panel: It is specially designed and manufactured for the project to ensure energy distribution.
– Junction Box (JB), cabling and tray projects: They are planned and implemented with detailed engineering solutions in accordance with the complex infrastructure of the site.
– Heat Trace: It is designed and commissioned on site to ensure temperature control in pipelines.
– Grounding projects and equipment: System security is maximized by designing in accordance with international standards.
– SCADA installation, PLC programming and automation software: Thanks to the software developed based on logic diagrams, the automation system is successfully commissioned. PLC programming processes are meticulously carried out to ensure safe and stable operation of control and monitoring functions in the field.
– Technical documentation: Documentation for all equipment and applications is prepared in detail and contributes to the long-term sustainability of the project.
Adatech is positioned in this project not only as a technology provider but also as a reliable solution partner with high engineering capability.
Project Compliance with International Standards
Safety, quality and certification processes play a critical role in energy projects. In this context, all equipment used in the systems realized by Adatech have CE and ATEX certificates and fully comply with international safety standards. The automation group is designed and implemented in accordance with the SIL 2 (Safety Integrity Level 2) safety standard; thus, the system provides a high level of security against possible risks.
Adatech attaches great importance not only to technical standards, but also to quality management systems and environmental awareness. All stages of the project are carried out in accordance with ISO quality and environmental management systems. With engineering approaches that do not harm the environment, work is carried out in line with the 0 waste target and the project is completed with a sustainable approach that respects nature.
